About this course

Video 201 is designed for creators who are ready to move beyond simply capturing clean footage. With Jeven Dovey as your guide, you’ll learn how each creative choice – from the camera and lens you select to the way you light, frame, focus, and move through a scene – can shape what an audience sees and feels.

Through practical filmmaking approaches and Sony-specific tools, you’ll build the confidence to create intentional, cinematic work for client projects, YouTube, documentaries, and beyond. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to bring every technical skill together in service of one goal: telling a more meaningful visual story.

Instructor

Jeven Dovey is a filmmaker, educator and content creator based in Southern California who specializes in adventure storytelling. Through his YouTube channel, he teaches creators how to craft meaningful visual stories and develop their creative voice. He is also the co-founder of Sown , a nonprofit that produces high-impact documentary films for social good – helping raise awareness and inspire action around the world.
