A Day In The Life Of A Sports Pro

The old joke goes, "How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, practice, practice." For a sports photographer who wants to make it to the floor of the court for the Final Four or the sidelines at the Superbowl, there's no trait more important than hustle. Hustle as in get up and go...and keep moving. In this video, veteran Sports Illustrated pro and Sony Artisan Of Imagery Patrick Murphy-Racey takes us through a day in the life of a sports shooter where he photographed 4 individual events:  baseball, lacrosse, a women's basketball game, and a men's basketball game.

Starting the night before his marathon day, Murphy-Racey talks us through his preparation. Then beginning early the day of the games, he goes through his setup, lighting and gear in the various venues.

For the day's events, Murphy-Racey used the Sony α99 II, α6500 and α6300 with various lenses including the Sony A-mount 300mm f/2.8G and 1.4X tele-extender (baseball), Sony A-mount 24-70mm f/2.8, Sony E-mount 70-200mm f/2.8 GM, Sony 10-18mm f/4.
