Instagram Follow Friday – March 8, 2019

In celebration of International Women’s Day, this week’s Instagram Follow Friday highlights several great female Sony photographers whose photos on the platform have caught our eye this week. You’ll see dreamy forest photos, breathtaking travel shots, unique cityscapes and landscapes, moody portraits and much, much more! Follow @sonyalpha and tag your own Sony photos on Instagram with #BeAlpha for your chance to be featured.

Caroline Jensen – @carolinej

Caroline is a Sony Artisan and natural light photographer specializing in portraits, macro and colorful landscapes. Whether it be a flower, butterfly or someone’s face, she makes it a point to focus on the subject. The way she brings light into her photos while maintaining their simplicity makes her page an easy one to follow. Caroline is also a mentor for the Alpha Female Creator-In-Residence program, and this week she’s celebrating International Women’s Day by highlighting the other mentors and creators for the program on her account. Check it out!

Cristina Mittermeier – @cristinamittermeier

Chances are you’ve probably seen this Sony Artisan’s photos before. A contributing photographer for National Geographic, Cristina uses her work to showcase issues of nature and wildlife conservation. She’s another one of the incredibly talented mentors for our Alpha Female program. In addition to following her account for the latest in the human–environment connection, check out @sealegacy, a collective she co-founded to help protect and restore our oceans through storytelling.

Ashley Brehm – @ashleyinwanderland

Ashley is another member of the #AlphaCollective, and her handle @ashleyinwanderland is a perfect fit for her style. Many of her portraits are like something straight out of a dark fairytale. She uses her subjects to create dreamy, whimsical photographs in front of backgrounds of varying moody landscapes. Give her a follow for a moody style that finds light in the obscurity. Photo below taken with the Sony α7 III.

Ellen Borggreve – @ellenborggreve

Ellen is a Sony photographer who posts fairytale-like forest photos to her account. Her ability to capture the enchanting essence of a forest is incredible, and she recently shared her techniques with us in 10 Tips For Dreamy Forest Photos. And the gear she uses to capture such beauty? The Sony α7 combined with the Sony FE 70-200mm f/4 G lens.

Paola Franqui – @monaris_

Paola is another member of the Alpha Collective who loves to travel and tell her stories through her photos. The New Jersey-based street photographer captures the diversity of humans through incredible candids. Her ability to turn something as simple as someone waiting in the rain for a cab into an image that really makes you think proves her talent as a photographer.

Marylee Johnson – @maryleedjohnson

Marylee is an adventure and lifestyle photographer based in Seattle, Washington. She captures breathtaking travel and landscape shots using her Sony α7R III and often combines it with a drone for a wider and higher view. If you’re a fan of nature and the outdoors, give her a follow for more snow-capped mountains, pristine lakes and bountiful forests. Make sure you watch her Instagram stories too to follow along on her travels!

Marti Gutfreund – @enchanted.forest

Marti is another member of the #AlphaCollective and she’s currently based in Canada. As a travel and lifestyle photographer, she posts from a variety of places and invites us to join along on the journey. You’re also going to love her cuddly animals who come along for the ride, and happen to have their own accounts – @sukiicat and @jaspywoof.) Her account really is something magical to look at – give her a follow!

Janelle – @whoisjanelle

Janelle is a Sony photographer capturing impressive cityscape and landscape shots. Many of her photos show intricate architecture combined with natural light, creating a type of magic that makes you want to explore the space more. The awesome shot below was taken with her trusty Sony α7 III and Sony 16-35mm f/4 lens. Give her a follow to see what unique shot she comes up with next!

Kathryn Dyer – @kathryn_dyer

As her Instagram bio states, Sony Alpha Imaging Collective member Kathryn is a Californian, cancer survivor and lover of life. She uses natural lighting to capture dreamy shots of nature. Whether it be the sun’s rays shining through the branches of a dense forest or bouncing off the ocean’s waters, her posts combined with her inspirational outlook will make you want to get outside and fully embrace life.
