In a new video, Sony Artisan Jason Lanier conducts an on-location shootout between the 85mm f/1.4 G Master and the 50mm f/1.4 Planar T* lenses. Setting up on a suspension bridge over a river in Honduras (where Lanier lost his trademark fedora in a 'tragic' accident), Lanier does a head-to-head comparison of the lenses mounted on his α7R II and he shows photos from each lens side by side.
"Ever since I started shooting with the Sony 50mm f/1.4 Planar, people have been asking me to do a comparison of the Sony primes. When you're in a scenario like this, there's really no better place to test it for the falloff and the separation. The suspension bridge has lines, it has incredible distance, it has all of the factors to be able to see how the lenses perform and how much they really separate [themodel] from everything that's here."
