Sandhill Crane Migration Photo Workshop

Led by Melissa Groo and Michael Forsberg.
When:

March 18 - 21, 2026

Where:

Rowe Sanctuary

Address:

44450 Elm Island Rd
Gibbon, NE 68840

Photograph one of nature’s greatest spectacles, the annual migration of over a million Sandhill Cranes through Nebraska each March. In this workshop, you’ll experience the magic of photographing these beautiful birds from specialized blinds along the Platte River. As the sun rises and mist lifts from the water, thousands of cranes fill the sky with their iconic calls, known as the “Crane Song,” creating an unforgettable soundscape.

From the blinds, you’ll have an intimate, front-row view as the birds land, dance, preen, and interact just yards away. It’s a one-of-a-kind opportunity to capture breathtaking images of these majestic birds in action, all while learning to anticipate behavior, work with changing light, and refine your wildlife photography skills. Led by Melissa Groo and Michael Forsberg.
