3-Part Long Exposure Photography Workshop With Sony Artisan Thibault Roland

Join Glazer’s for a unique event to learn from Sony Artisan of Imagery Thibault Roland his signature technique: Long Exposure Photography. This 3-part workshop will take place May 17, May 28 and June 7.

In most people's minds, photography must show reality. And in most situations this statement is true: for example, a picture of the finish line will always present the winner of a race. But what happens when the camera is off-axis? Winner and loser can be mistaken. By changing their point of view photographers will change the image itself and its message, it's meaning.

So why not embrace this approach? Why not encourage the photographer to develop their own intimate and unique perspective? Why not leave reality aside and instead "create" photographs just like painters would use their brush to apply colors on a blank canvas?

Long exposure is a technique that does just that: it transforms reality into something else, into a dialogue between the artist, the subject, and the viewer.

Long exposure is a different approach, one that comes from within and uses what is out there in order to produce unique and breathtaking images. Images that go beyond photography and bridge into the Fine Arts.

This three-part event will start with an online lecture in which Thibault Roland will introduce long exposure and will discuss the equipment needed to shoot with this technique. At the end of the presentation, you will have a checklist of the different steps to follow as well as tips and tricks that will help you take breathtaking images using this unique approach.

The second part of this event consists of an in-person workshop along the Seattle waterfront, where you will have the opportunity to learn first-hand from Thibault how best to capture unique-looking images.

Last but not least, the event will end with a review and discussion session during which Thibault will share his feedback for the entire group to benefit.
