Join Sony Artisan of Imagery and Singh-Ray Ambassador, Don Smith, and 26-year Sports Illustrated staff photographer, Ron Modra, for a unique Photo Landscape and Portraiture Workshop at iconic Monument Valley, Utah.
The landscape portion of the workshop will center on capturing the most iconic buttes, mitten, and spires that Monument Valley has to offer. We have timed this workshop to coincide with the full moon cycle at a time of year where we will not be dealing with the normal hordes of tourists.
With some luck, we may even get a bit of snow. We will have (4) sunset and (4) sunrise shoots along with some incredible light early and late. We will also offer one class on night photography. Moreover, one of the sunset shoots will involve a full moonrise over the famed Mittens!
During the day, be prepared to photograph portraits of Native American's in this beautiful environment. We will be invited into a Navajo Hogan, a traditional living area where Ron will show you how to pose and make use of the available light.
Also, we will use the Valley as a backdrop with locals on horseback here we will also do some portrait work, another highlight will be a rider on horseback riding out on John Fords point.
If you are a fan of the old west and classic western movies like Stagecoach, She Wore A Yellow Ribbon we will be using some of the iconic locations used by John Ford and John Wayne.
