Megan Brief’s winning image captures a powerful, immersive moment in Northwestern Argentina. After trekking through desert terrain and climbing to what she calls the “Kingdom of the Condors,” she spent over an hour immersed in their world, watching as they soared overhead. Just a few hundred feet below, she experienced the unmistakable sound of wind moving through their wings. An encounter she describes as “otherworldly.”

For Megan, this moment reflects the heart of her work: exploring the complex relationship between humans and wildlife, and telling stories that inspire empathy for species often misunderstood. Being named the 2026 Sony Alpha Female+ Creator of the Year marks a full-circle milestone in her journey, affirming her path as a storyteller and conservation-focused photographer.
