We are excited to announce See Stories as the newest recipient of a Sony Create Action Grant. The Alaska-based nonprofit leads youth documentary film workshops to create films that build an inclusive community story. As winners of the grant, the organization will receive $50,000 in cash to continue and expand their work, a custom short film telling their story, $50,000 in Sony Electronics products to support their action plan, and collaboration and partnership with Sony.

See Stories’ mission is to build inclusive communities with film and story. The organization works to ensure that diverse Alaskans and youth are given the media skills to craft stories that better represent the Alaska they know. See Stories leads documentary film and podcast workshops for teens, empower teachers to lead multimedia projects in their classrooms and share student-produced media with the public to foster a more inclusive Alaskan story and community.
See Stories has led youth film workshops in 20+ villages and communities from Kodiak to Kaktovik. In their workshops, they equip underserved youth across Alaska with the power to transform their struggle and strength into story, and to use that story to create the opportunities they want for themselves.

The second year of the Create Action Grant Program is open through March 31, 2023, and will provide grants to 10 organizations total, with one new grant awarded each month.
