Concert photographer and Alpha Collective member Serena Yang (@photographyserena) likes to capture concerts in a bold, editorial style. Using her trusty Alpha 7 IV camera (Buy Now), which she says goes with her everywhere, she captures the energy of a live music frame by frame. To cover all of the angles she needs, she relies on three lenses. Watch and read below as she shares which three lenses she always brings with her to a concert:
Best Lenses For Concert Photography
24-70mm f/2.8 G Master II (Buy Now): I always have the 24-70mm with me at all times. It’s just the most versatile zoom range for any situation. It can get both wide-angle shots and also portrait zoom lengths on it.
16-25mm f/2.8 G (Buy Now): I love a wide angle lens. Shooting a concert with a wide angle lens is super underrated. For larger venues, they’re great to get a shot of the entire venue. And then for smaller venues, I like to use them to get really close to the artist to get some warped angles.
70-200mm f/2.8 G Master (Buy Now): And then for concerts, you always want a standard close-up portrait shot. The 70-200mm is great for that. It’s super sharp, super crisp and it has that gorgeous bokeh. It allows me to get close-up portraits of the artist on stage even when I’m far away.
