YouTube reviewers Dan and Sally Watson recently tested the new Sony α6600 and α6100 cameras, as well as the new Sony 16-55mm f/2.8 G and 70-350mm f/4.5-6.3 G zoom lenses. Here are some highlights of what they had to say about the autofocus system, features and overall performance.
"The eye autofocus works better than any other system in existence. It's at least a generation or two ahead of everyone else." – Dan Watson on Sony’s Eye-AF system
α6600 & α6100 Autofocus System
"…it's still by far the most amazing and intelligent system on the market today. Seriously you will not find better in any other camera system. It's incredibly fast – the eye autofocus works better than any other system in existence. It's at least a generation or two ahead of everyone else."
α6600 & α6100 Video Performance
“From a video perspective, it's exactly what you would expect from Sony. So we're getting 4K up to 30 frames-per-second, 1080p up to 120 frames-per-second. If you drop that to 60 frames-per-second, you still get to hang on to all those amazing Sony autofocus modes inside the video. And then on the α6600 you have that additional eye auto focus in video as well as that headphone jack. And again that bigger battery is really going help you out a lot."
On The 16-55mm f/2.8 G:
"…it is boosting a lot of high technology from Sony’s upper-end lineup like linear focus motors for super fast autofocus technology and then overall there’s just a solid feel to it…overall a great lens."
On The 70-350mm f/4.5-6.3 G:
"…a solid performer all around. It was tack sharp no matter what I threw at it, it was amazing. Another great autofocus performer.” and “It's great to see a solid range like that with solid image quality."
