Columbia University just announced the 2025 Pulitzer Prizes (awarded on the recommendation of the Pulitzer Prize Board), and we are thrilled to share that Sony photographer and New York Times photojournalist Doug Mills has received the 2025 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography.
Mills receives the award for his coverage of the assassination attempt on then presidential candidate Donald Trump, and an image of the bullet whizzing past Trump. With a career spanning several decades, Mills has established himself as one of the leading photographers in the realm of political journalism. He's the senior photographer in Washington for The New York Times, focused on the White House, and has covered every U.S. president since Ronald Reagan.
His work is characterized by a keen eye for detail and an ability to capture the pivotal moments that define historical narratives.
