First Take With Chris Burkard Hits The Trails To Capture Mountain Biking Action

Season 2 of First Take With Chris Burkard features the Sony Artisan as he connects and creates with a range of talented photographers coming from all over the world. In Episode 6, Burkard is joined by photographer and Alpha Collective member Jude Allen. Allen started out taking skateboard photos of his friends, with skateboarding magazines being his major source of inspiration. “That was like our gateway into other worlds,” he explains. “And so once I started doing the photography thing, it just kind of opened up my whole world.” Watch as they hit the trails to photograph some mountain biking action and discuss how to capture a different perspective from other content creators.

Burkard asks Allen if he had to choose between creating an amazing photo abroad, or creating one in his own backyard – which would he choose? “I would definitely say a new place,” Allen explains. “I feel like, me seeing new places and traveling kind of keeps it fresh for me. If I do the same thing over and over, I can get bored, you know. New things and new experiences are what it’s about for me.”

Every photographer has others who they are inspired by, but Allen says it’s important to not just regurgitate the same thing everyone else is doing. “It doesn’t really show who you are,” he says. “You don’t shine through. Even walking around and framing things a little differently. Getting high, getting low.” Both creators think it’s important for you to find your own style and show your own unique perspective of the world.

Using the Sony Alpha 1 paired with the Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 G Master II, and the Sony Alpha 7CR with the Sony 16-35mm f/2.8 G Master, the two photograph mountain bikers speeding along the trails and catching air off the jumps. With the versatility of these G Master zooms, they were able to capture the bikes in motion without missing a beat.
