Tech Radar

“With the latest Sony processing systems, including real-time AI recognition and video features previously reserved for the top-of-the-range Sony Alpha cameras, the travel-friendly A7C II becomes a serious alternative to the larger A7 IV. The jump to 33 million-pixel resolution takes it further away from the ZV-E1, which has a similar rangefinder-style design but a much lower-resolution 12 million-pixel sensor, as it’s primarily designed for video use. The A7C II is a powerful, lightweight full-frame camera, and unlike its predecessor there’s little compromise; you’re getting all the good stuff Sony currently offers in a small full-frame camera.” – Richard Sibley

Gerald Undone

“So because it performs just as well in a studio environment for me where, you know, like, the viewfinder doesn't really matter, you know, I'm just putting it on a tripod and shooting myself, it's just a cheaper version of the A7 IV, and A7 IV was already, you know, one of my sort of favorite choices for YouTube A-roll for the money. Well, now this is better, it's cheaper, so if it's doing the same job for cheaper, that's a win, right? And it's even got, like I said, some extra features in there, which is nice. So this is just, this is an overall great product, in my opinion.”

PetaPixel

“Compared to the A7 IV, to me this is actually really compelling because it has some substantial benefits and technology. With the autofocus, and the IBIS. And I do really like the more compact camera system, and I don’t feel that the control structure is really lacking that much compared to the A7 IV. I’m also going to save some money so I think this becomes a really compelling piece.”

Tony & Chelsea Northrup

“I think the A7C II is a good option. It has more frames per second at 10 frames per second. It has less rolling shutter in the video. For me, I think the 33 megapixels is perfectly substantial. It’s a lot of megapixels.” – Chelsea Northrup

Kai W

"A great camera if you're on a budget and you want to get in full-frame without skimping on good performance features." – Kai W

Lee Zavitz

“Overall this is a big upgrade if you’re coming from the A7C. You’ve now got 10-bit video. You’ve got 4K 60p. You’ve got way better autofocus, subject detection, all the new AI tracking stuff. You’ve got a way better menu, because that’s using the older menu, this has the new touch UI and all the crazy menu options you get with this camera. This also has better in-body stabilization and it’s just going to be an overall better experience shooting with this camera in my opinion.” – Lee Zavitz

“If you’ve been looking for a small, compact full-frame camera, this is probably one of the best options right now. You basically get an A7 IV for a little bit less money, with better autofocus and it looks cool in silver.” – Lee Zavitz

Jason Vong

“If we're talking about photos, 33 megapixels on the A7C II is going to be enough for most folks. It's actually quite a lot. You're not missing out much by buying a camera with half the megapixels.”
