How Think Media Built A Low-Cost, 4K, Two-Angle Camera Setup

On YouTube, Think Media created a tutorial about the low-cost, 4K, two-camera setup they've built to shoot their own events among others. The setup is built around a pair of Sony α6400 cameras and includes a range of accessories that give you a lot of versatility. For lenses on their α6400 bodies, they use the Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 G Master and Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 G Master. See how they combined the cameras and lenses with a range of accessories to build the full setup in this video tutorial:

See how Think Media built this low-cost 4K two-angle camera setup using the α6400.

The Camera

“For the camera, we went with the Sony α6400. And the reason why we chose this camera in particular, number one I would say is the size. This is just a super small setup, you know right together it’s almost the size of a DSLR. So we wanted something that packed up really light but also was pretty powerful. Other than the size, we also chose it because it shoots with no record limit, so you literally can shoot as long as your card will allow you.”

“We also love the fact that this has incredible autofocus. And so you can actually set this to autofocus real-time tracking and it can lock in on a person’s face for the duration of an entire hour-talk. We’ve tested it, we used it at our live event this year, Grow With Video Live as well as a couple masterminds and a workshop we did, and it showed out really, really well.”

The Lenses

“The first lens we use is the holy grail Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 G Master lens. Now this lens is a beast, a beast in price but also a beast in performance. So this is the lens that we use for the tight angle, which will be on the camera that has the monitor. This lens is just so versatile and its ability to stay at f/2.8 is really good. That combined with the autofocus abilities of the α6400, you actually get to shoot it at 2.8 aperture and trust that is in focus. The face detection is awesome on that camera. But we love this lens, this is definitely the holy grail of lenses. For the second lens we use for that medium or wide shot is the Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 G Master lens.”
