Jeremy Cohen Shares Why The Sony 35mm f/1.4 G Master Is His Favorite Portrait Lens

Jeremy Cohen loves an environmental portrait, and when it comes to creating one, he says there’s one lens that can’t be beat: the Sony 35mm f/1.4 G Master. “This is my go-to portrait lens and I bring it with me everywhere.” Watch the video below as he explains why it’s his favorite.

Tell A Better Story

Incorporating the environment into your portrait can help to tell more of the story, and the Sony 35mm f/1.4 G Master provides the perfect focal length for doing so. “Environmental portraits are photographing a subject in their space or a space,” Cohen explains, “and I think it makes for a more interesting portrait because the elements in the space can paint a picture about who the person is and tell a better story.”

Low Light & Bokeh

Cohen also loves the speed of the Sony 35mm f/1.4 G Master. “So it’s really good in low light,” he says, “and it’s really good at blurring out the background and getting a little bit of bokeh.”
