This year's Palm Springs Photo Festival features opportunities to connect, shoot with and learn from Sony Artisans of Imagery Andy Katz and Brooke Shaden. The festival begins on May 7 and runs through May 12 in beautiful Palm Springs, CA.
During the festival on the afternoon of May 10, Sony Artisan Andy Katz will be hosting a photo excursion to the famous Palm Canyons. There will be Sony cameras and lenses for you to test and shoot with while on the trip. Andy Katz’s love of photography takes him around the globe. From the deserts of Namibia to the disappearing Jewish World of Eastern Europe to the rolling hills of the California wine country, his subjects range as broadly as his travels and adventures. Each journey for Katz is a new exploration of images. Katz discovered his passion for photography at a young age and is now a Sony Artisan of Imagery, one of only seven photographers representing Sony’s new cameras.Andy Katz’s love of photography takes him around the globe. Throughout the festival Sony Artisan Brooke Shaden will be hosting a 4-day class on Creating A Fine Art Series. This hands-on fine art class will go through the ins and outs of fine art photography. From finding ideas that truly speak to your unique message, to making those ideas come to life in a series of polished images, we will storyboard, shoot, and edit together. Attendees will have multiple chances to photograph their own visions as well as watch demonstrations of Brooke working on her own series. Techniques like set design, photo manipulation and compositing, color theory, lighting transformations, and more will be taught throughout the event. Attendees will walk away with their own fine art series, new techniques for creating fine art images anywhere at any time, as well as valuable business knowledge about starting a career as a fine art photographer. Brooke will share her own images as examples, and will speak about how she went from building a career from nothing to exhibiting in galleries around the world.
