San Diego brought the energy. For our first Creative Space On The Road stop of the year, photographers and filmmakers met oceanside for a hands-on day of learning, creating and connection – including testing out the new Alpha 7 V. From morning check-in to golden-hour wraps, it felt dynamic and collaborative – exactly the kind of creative charge that happens when gear, guidance and community meet in one place.
At the heart of the day were guided photo walks led by creators Andrew Wille and Alvaro Valiente. Together, they set the tone early: share what you know, try something new and celebrate the moments when technique and curiosity click.

Photo Walks: Teaching, Tips & The “I Took That” Moment
“My favorite part of leading the photowalks was seeing all the photographers get excited about the photos they took throughout the day,” said Andrew Wille. “I love photography, so it's really special and rewarding when you see that same spark in others. I really enjoy teaching, so it was also amazing being able to pass on useful tips throughout each walk.”

Alvaro echoed that sentiment from his side of the routes. “It was seeing the excitement on people’s faces when they captured a photo they were truly proud of. There’s something special about that exact moment when they look at the screen and realize, ‘Wow, I took that.’ Being able to guide them, share small tips, and then see that confidence click into place meant everything to me. It made me feel like I was part of their creative breakthrough in that instant, and that’s incredibly rewarding.”

Between locations, attendees compared frames, swapped settings, and practiced fresh approaches to light and composition. The vibe stayed supportive and low-pressure – try, refine, try again – so those “wow” moments kept coming.
Community & Learning: Why It Matters
For Andrew, the San Diego stop captured what these gatherings are all about. “I thought it was an incredible event that anyone interested in photography or filmmaking would find highly valuable. It truly is amazing that Sony puts events like these together for their community.”

Alvaro agreed and emphasized that the day was about much more than testing gear. “It was incredible! The energy in it was next level and it wasn’t just about trying new gear; it was about connecting, learning, and creating together. I met so many talented and passionate people, all bringing their own perspective and style, which made the experience even more inspiring. It felt hands-on, dynamic, and genuinely creative from start to finish.”

That combination – practical learning and genuine connection – is what turns a single day into lasting momentum.
The Sony Community: Support, Growth & Feeling At Home
“The Sony community means so much to me as a creator. I've never felt so much love and support from a brand before, and it makes all the difference,” Andrew shared. “I've met some of my best friends through the Sony community, at events or just through social media, and none of that would have been possible without Sony's support.”

For Alvaro, that support shows up as progress you can feel. “It means growth, connection, and shared passion. To me, it’s about being surrounded by creators who genuinely push each other to improve and evolve. There’s this collective mindset of creativity, innovation, and constant learning that keeps you motivated. It feels supportive, like everyone wants to see each other win. Being part of that kind of environment makes you feel inspired and, honestly, like you’re part of a big creative family.”
