Sony α7S Flies On Night Crew Labs Mission Above San Francisco

Before tackling their ambitious goal of flying cameras into the stratosphere above Alaska to capture images of the Northern Lights, Night Crew Labs—Bryan Chan, Ashish Goel, Tyler Reid, Corey Snyder, and Paul Tarantino—did a test run in the San Francisco Bay Area. They've selected the Sony α7S and Sony 10-18mm f/4 OSS Alpha E-mount Wide-Angle Zoom for the flights for the combination of weight, imaging performance and cost (after all what goes up must come down and sometimes there's a chance the landing won't be as smooth as planned...replacement cost is a factor).

The flight over San Francisco was a success, paving the way for the journey to Alaska. Check out the video below and go the Night Crew Labs website to read all about the project.
