Sony α99 II Head To Head With $6500 DSLR

YouTube vlogger and reviewer Max Yuryev recently teamed up with sports photographer/athlete Paul Nelson to test the Sony α99 II against the Nikon D5. Shooting in a variety of conditions around a snow-covered Portland, OR, the duo wanted to see how the α99 II, which is less than half the cost of the $6500 Nikon D5, would do in the kind of sports and action that Nelson shoots on a regular basis. The title of the video, "Sony A99ii vs Nikon D5 - The new A99ii Shocks us!", is telling.

So what was so shocking? In the summation of the 30-minute video, Yuryev describes some of the reasons the α99 II is so impressive "It's really flexible with video, with landscape, with the high resolution files, good dynamic range...everything else." And Nelson adds, "There's nothing else like it when it comes to file size and when it comes to sports that I know of."

The bottom line...Yuryev says simply, "If you're waiting to see a review to see if you should buy [the α99 II] or not...go buy it."
