We’re excited to share that Washington, D.C.-based photojournalist and Sony Artisan David Burnett was recently inducted into the International Photography Hall of Fame (IPHF). World-renowned photographers gathered earlier this month to celebrate IPHF’s 60th anniversary with the 2025 Hall of Fame Awards Ceremony, where Burnett was officially honored with his induction into the 2025 Class of Honorees.

Burnett, who also recently received a Professional Photographer Achievement Award from the International Photographic Council (IPC) and was a recipient of The White House News Photographers Association (WNPA) 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award, has been a member of the Sony Artisan of Imagery program since 2019.
Over the past five decades, Burnett has been covering pivotal moments in history. His work spans conflict zones, Summer Games and political campaigns, always with a unique blend of technical precision and emotional depth. His expertise is sought out all over the world, having served as judge for many prestigious photography competitions. His images have also been exhibited across the globe, and he has four books published featuring his photography. Burnett continues to lead workshops while capturing the news, the people and what he calls the visual tempo of our age.
Burnett is thankful to Sony for not only providing the tools to tell these stories, but for also fostering a community of Sony photographers who support and inspire each other. “There is a great sense of comradeship with those we share the world with, and I can't get enough of it,” he says. “I can't think of a better group of men and women to be associated with. It's pretty much lucky me, all the time, just to know these folks. Going back six decades, I can count many people in photojournalism whose generosity never stopped flowing.”
