“In life, there are no shortcuts to joy,” Chris Burkard philosophizes on stage at TED during March 2015. “Anything that is worth pursuing is going to require us to suffer, just a little bit.” It was during a photo shoot in the Lofoten Islands that Chris came onto these revelations as he quested to break away from the comfort and safety of all the trappings of heavily touristed places both in and out of the water.
