"I was able to visit Japan this past winter and saw Japanese snow monkeys bathing in natural hot springs up in the mountains! This was one of my favorite shots, and I really loved the contrast and textures that come out when it's in black and white."

Theme: Unexpected Moments
"One early morning, while transferring trains at a station, I came upon a lone ballerina standing beneath an American flag hanging high from the ceiling and an ornate chandelier. As she bent down for a brief moment to adjust the ribbons of her pointe shoes, the steady light filtering through the dim station wrapped the entire scene in a quiet stillness."

Theme: Nurture
"For wolves, 'nurture' is in their DNA. They're so nurturing, in fact, that they'll take in pups that aren't their own and raise them as foster pawrents! That's why when I think of the word nurture, I see these moments, these adult wolves as they care for their pups. Even the older siblings act as pup-sitters. And even when they're all grown up, they continue to nurture each other. I believe we can all learn a lot from observing them."

Theme: Cityscape
"It was my first time trying to capture "Chicagohenge", a biannual event where the setting sun aligns perfectly with Chicago’s east-west street grid. Even though it was a bit cloudy and I couldn't see the full shape of the sun, I really liked how the rays glowed between a CTA train crossing above a busy downtown intersection. I was surprised by the number of photographers and sunset lovers around me, all vying for the perfect shot. I had to get there and hold my spot an hour before sunset to make sure I had a good view."
