Alpha Female+ Micro-Grant Winners
Chiara Salomoni
Theme: Portrait
“I find so much beauty in light. Bringing the control of lighting theory into the most out of control environment has been my personal favorite since I decided photography was my journey. Watching the models learn to trust the water and work with it, not against it. Waiting for them to sink in the right spot. Then, as you follow their underwater dance, the photo finally happens and all you have to do is click. As a photographer you captured a silent secret nobody else saw happen. And you get to then share it with the world.”

Xie Gigi
Theme: Macro
“I took this macro photograph of a dragonfly after the raining at my backyard. The dragonfly was gripping a twig of Bush. I saw its eyes dotted with water droplets, some of which reflect miniature scenes—adding a magical touch. I also saw the fine texture of its face and mouthparts. I captured this picture, not just the anatomy of a dragonfly, but also a moment of stillness and wonder—like peering into a secret world most of us never noticed.”

Linda Cameron
Theme: Adventure
“I’m convinced that we live some of our best adventures as children, and as adults we are nostalgic for that same adventure. Took this with my boys (took over 20 hours to composite).”

Theme: Reflections
“There's a group of local red foxes that I like to sometimes visit. They are one of those animals that just doesn't ever take a bad photo! Beautiful creatures... This one took a water break from causing mayhem with some Canada geese.”
