You Want The Moon? Just Say The Word To These Sony Photographers

You want the moon? Just say the word and these Sony photographers will point their Sony Alpha cameras and Sony telephoto lenses at it (no lasso needed!) It’s a time for holiday classics and as the nights grow longer and the festive lights shimmer, let these mesmerizing moon shots inspire your own holiday photography. Give them a follow and discover how they make the moon feel just a little bit closer this season! Tag your own Sony photos with #SonyAlpha for your chance to be featured.

You want the moon? Just say the word, and these photographers will capture it with their Sony Alpha cameras.

Mike Meyers – @mmeyers76

Alpha Collective member Mike Meyers had the chance to test drive the new Sony Alpha 1 II, and he paired it with the Sony 600mm f/4 G Master to create this image of the moon rising behind The Edge in Manhattan. “The trick to getting the moon to look so oversized is using a very long lens (in this case, the Sony 600mm F4 G Master) and putting as much distance as you can between you and the foreground object (in this case, The Edge). You’ll want to use the bracketing feature on the A1 II to make sure the foreground and moon are both properly exposed, and then combine the two or three shots later in edit. The new Alpha 1 II performed perfectly and I definitely appreciated the vertical flip screen while I framed up the shot!”

Renan Ozturk – @renan_ozturk

If you’re familiar with Sony Artisan Renan Ozturk’s work, you’ve probably seen this image before. He created it as part of the launch for the Sony Alpha 7S III, and he paired the camera with the Sony 600mm f/4 G Master + Sony 2.0x Teleconverter to capture the moment. Watch the film "Moonwalk" for more behind the creation of this image HERE.

Stefan Liebermann – @stefanliebermannphoto

Talented astrophotographer Stefan Liebermann captured this next-level crisp moon image using his Sony Alpha 7S III and Sony 600mm f/4 G Master + Sony 2.0x Teleconverter. “If you want to photograph the moon you need large focal lengths in the range of 200-600mm,” he says. “It is recommended to use a 2x adapter which doubles the focal length and a stable tripod.”

Cornelia Fotescu – @cornelia_fotescu75

Romania-based photographer Cornelia Fotescu takes dreamy images of nature and the night sky. She captured this mesmerizing moon image with her Sony Alpha 7 II and Sony 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G.

Samil Cabrera – @astronycc

Samil Cabrera is all about exploring and capturing the outdoors, especially at night. He went out with his Sony Alpha 7 III and the Sony 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G + Sony 2.0x Teleconverter to capture this glowing image of the last cold moon of the year.

Jason Rice – @jriceastro

Jason Rice is a Birmingham, Alabama-based astrophotographer. His image below is an HDR composite of four separate images of the quarter moon from earlier this year. He captured it with his Sony Alpha 7 IV and Sony 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G + Sony 2.0x Teleconverter.

Alp Baranok – @alp_baranok

Photographer Alp Baranok took these moon images in Turkey with his Sony Alpha 1 and Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 G Master II.

Magnus Winbjork – @winbjorkphoto

A full moon AND a reindeer in one frame?! It truly is a wonderful life. Swedish Lapland-based photographer Magnus Winbjork took this image with his Sony Alpha 1 and Sony 400mm f/2.8 G Master.
