Kando FAQ
1. What is Kando Trip and who should apply?
Kando Trip is an experience--an event, workshop, retreat, community gathering, photography trip, and so much more, all in one. Participants will be surrounded by like-minded creators, learning new ways to create and share their work from some of the world’s best pro photographers.
2. What happens is Sony cancels the event?
Should Sony cancel Kando Trip 4.0 for any reason, all payments will be refunded to the participants.
3. Why 3.0?
We plan on making Kando Trip bigger and better every year, so the numbers indicate the evolution of an already spectacular experience.
4. When and where will Kando Trip 4.0 take place?
August 15-18, 2020, at Sun Valley Resort, Idaho.
5. What's the application deadline?
Applications will be accepted through June 30th, 2020, but we encourage you to not wait for the deadline to apply as the event is almost sold out.
6. Why do I need to apply?
To ensure the absolute best experience possible, we aim to have a diverse group of participants at Kando Trip, representing a wide variety of categories and segments within the photography and video industries. We will consider all applications together--since our events always garner a tremendous amount of interest, we expect to receive more applications than spots available.
7. Is there an age requirement?
Yes, applicants must be over the age of 21.
8. When will I know if my participation is confirmed?
All applicants will be notified of their status via email within maximum two weeks from the time they submitted the application.
9. What's the cost?
Double Occupancy: $2,199 for new participants / $1,999 for alumni
Single Occupancy: $2,499 for new participants / $2,299 for alumni
10. What does the Kando Trip 4.0 package contain?

11. If I book a double, can I choose my roommate?
Yes! If you and a friend would like to attend together, please indicate this as part of your application. We will confirm this with you once more at registration time. If you're attending on your own, you're welcome to join our Kando Trip 4.0 group on Facebook and scout for a roommate, or we will assign one for you.
12. Will I need to make my own travel arrangements?
Yes, you will have the freedom to arrange the best travel for your needs. The arrival airport for Kando Trip is SUN (Friedman Memorial Airport in Sun Valley, Idaho). Shuttles will be available for pickup at arrival and drop-off at departure. You're also welcome to drive: the next nearest airport is Boise, ID, approximately three hours away.
13. What happens if I need to cancel my reservation?
We will accept cancellations for two weeks after your payment is processed. No refunds will be provided afterward, with the exception of emergency-based events.
14. What should I bring with me?
While the main social activities and technical classes will take place indoors, many activities and classes will be outside. Check the weather and pack appropriate and comfortable outdoor clothing. Bring any photography and editing gear you’ll need to participate in the interactive classes and extensive shooting opportunities. You might also want to leave extra room in your bag for the swag you’ll be taking home! We'll follow up closer to the date with lots of pertinent details.
15. Can I bring a pet? How about a child?
Sun Valley Resort is a dog-friendly resort, so you're welcome to bring your dog friend if you'd like, but you will need to be booked in a single room. And while we love children, we're not able to host them at Kando Trip either. Participant age must be 21+.
