In a video review that analyzes the new features and capabilities of the new Sony RX100 V, Ted Forbes of The Art Of Photography has a lot to say and he even enlists his cats as test subjects.
Commenting on the RX100 V's Af system, Forbes says, "What Sony have done with the RX100 V is incorporated a hybrid system of contrast-based and phase-detection-based autofocus. It is actually very accurate and very good."
On the 24fps frame rate, Forbes says, "The fact that it does it at all, and this is a higher frame I've seen on any camera, point and shoot or not, and the fact that Sony has put this into a point and shoot is pretty outstanding. The other really cool thing about this is when you're shooting silently you can still use the high speed continuous shooting. So if you're a photographer who need to shoot in kind of sensitive situations, sometimes as far as sound goes, [the RX100 V] doesn't make any noise. It is amazing."
