First Take With Chris Burkard Goes Airborne

In Season 2 of First Take With Chris Burkard, the Sony Artisan explores a range of talented photographers coming from all over the world. In Episode 2 of the new season, Burkard is joined by Sony Alpha Ambassador and astrophotographer Rachel Ross. Fascinated by the night sky and hailing from the Canadian Rockies, Ross has captured otherworldly shots of the Milky Way, aurora borealis and more.

“It’s something that is overwhelming, but also when you’re out there experiencing the world at night, you don’t get to see everything that the camera can see,” Ross explains. “And so the idea that the camera reveals the world to me, or the universe to me, in a way that I don’t get to experience without it – that’s a moment where I feel even more connected and more in tune with the universe. Like I’m a bigger part of it.”

Watch the new episode below as Burkard takes Ross up in a small plane, something she’s never done before, to document California’s beautiful Central Coast. Using cameras like the Sony Alpha 1 and Sony Alpha 7R V paired with a high-quality wide angle zoom like the Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 G Master II, they capture the dynamic geography while exploring photography topics.
