Season 2 of First Take With Chris Burkard features the Sony Artisan as he connects and creates with a range of talented photographers coming from all over the world. In Episode 3 of the new season, Burkard is joined by Sony Alpha Ambassador and adventure and elopement photographer Henry Tieu. Having traveled all over the world to capture couples in love, Tieu has been on some wild adventures and has many cool stories to share.
Tieu is excited to try fly fishing for the first time since it’s completely new to him, and as you can see from his work he's not one to shy away from new things. Sure, everyone has certain traditions in mind when they think of weddings, but Tieu’s specific style always keeps him on his toes. “What’s so fun about elopement photography is, even though yes, people are getting married and they are saying their vowels, it looked different every single time I went out there with people.”
Tieu continues, “That could be on top of a mountain. That could be at the beach. And so it’s really fun to be honest just because I think when you strip down all the fluff, you really focus on, why are we doing this? What are we really focusing on? And the majority of the couples would start realizing the wedding day should be about who they are, where they’ve been and the beginning of the next chapter.”
Because Tieu’s work involves combining grand landscapes and sceneries with intimate portrait and wedding photography, he packs quite a few lens options to be able to capture a variety of compositions. Using the Sony Alpha 7 IV with lenses like the Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 G Master II and new Sony 85mm f/1.4 G Master II help him have both the versatility of zooms and sharpness of primes.
