Reading Quest is the August recipient of a grant in the Sony Create Action grant program. Based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Reading Quest is a non-profit organization that "provides joyful, quality reading tutoring for striving readers. We empower children to believe in themselves and support them to become strong, enthusiastic readers." Reading Quest will receive $50,000 in cash to continue and expand their work, a custom short film telling their story, $50,000 in Sony Electronics products to support their action plan, and collaboration and partnership with Sony.
Reading Quest's mission is to offer children who are significantly below grade level in reading in the Santa Fe community the opportunity to substantially improve their ability and confidence. Reading Quest does this by providing individual and group tutoring services that are tailored to give the children the best chance to build confidence in themselves socially and academically.
During the summer months, Reading Quest offers 'Reading is Magic' in collaboration with Santa Fe School for the Arts & Sciences and Santa Fe Public Schools as well as several summer camps that provide immersive experiences for the children that attend. The programs are taught by a culturally diverse staff of teen and adult volunteers that honor their students' culture and native languages. Alongside the in-person and summer programs, Reading Quest offers a number of teaching videos, providing yet another great resource for the children and community.
The dedication of Reading Quest and its commitment to support the youth of Santa Fe makes them an excellent choice to receive this Create Action Grant. Through Create Action, Sony will be working with Reading Quest on the mutual goal of creating lasting positive change within the communities we serve and to amplify Reading Quest’s efforts through funding, storytelling and collaboration.

The Create Action Grant Program is open through March 29, 2022 and will provide grants to 10 organizations total, with one new grant awarded each month.
