See How These Photographers Make Landscapes To Tell The Story Of A Place

Landscape photography is critical to most stories. Whether it's travel, adventure, journalism or conservation – landscape images help give the viewer a sense of place. It can often be a bit tricky to make a unique landscape image, it takes time to work a scene and make it really stand out. Check out how these photographers are making epic landscapes with their Sony gear. Share your own landscape shots with us by tagging your Sony photography posts with #SonyAlpha and follow @sonyalpha for your daily dose of photography inspiration.

Landscape photography can convey the emotion of being in a place and these photographers are some of the best at capturing those feelings in a single frame.

Sapna Reddy - @sapnareddy

Sapna Reddy is a physician, nature photographer, and member of the Alpha Collective. Her Instagram account is filled with brilliant landscapes from all corners of the Earth. Such as the one below, from Namibia, Africa. We love the duality of tones and the minimalistic feel to this image. Reddy captured it on the Sony Alpha 1 with Sony 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G lens.

Scott Kranz - @scott_kranz

Alpha Collective member Scott Kranz is a travel, adventure and outdoor photographer based in Seattle. He shares his epic adventures and intensely gorgeous images on his Instagram account. As you scroll you’ll see mountains tearing through the sky. We love the image below, where Krantz used a telephoto lens to hone in on the details of the scene he wanted to highlight.

John Novak - @hetzerrr

John Novak is a amature photographer whose passion is to travel and photograph landscapes and wildlife. His feed is filled with a variety of shots taken on his Sony Alpha 1. We love the landscape below, with the beautiful chaos of the Sandhill Cranes and the blue and purple tones.

Morgan Heim - @MoHeim

Morgan Heim is a conservation photographer and filmmaker. As a member of the International League of Conservation Photographers (iLCP), she uses her Sony cameras to tell stories of wildlife and nature. We love the composition of the image below. The birds flying through the top of the frame adds an interesting extra element and tells the story of the place.

Leslie Restivo - @leslie_restivo

Leslie Restivo is a photographer based in North Carolina who specializes in landscapes of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Her feed is full of eye candy images of gold and pink hughes stretching over a lush landscape. We love this one below, taken on the Sony Alpha 7R III and the Sony 16-35mm f/2.8 G Master

Manali Sawant - @manalisawant_93

Manali Sawant is a photographer who focuses on travel, nature, and street photography. Her Instagram feed will make you ready to pack your bags and head out on an adventure with your Sony in hand! We love the color tones of the blue in this image below. Sawant made this image with the Sony 24mm f/1.4 G Master

Jen Guyton - @JenGuyton

Jen Guyton is a wildlife and conservation photographer. She is a member of the International League of Conservation Photographers (iLCP) and an explorer with the National Geographic Society. She is currently on assignment for National Geographic and she made this stunning landscape. Check out her feed for more great captures and conservation stories!

Jenny van Son - @jennyvanson

Jenny van Son is a photographer based in Australia who focuses on environmental and outdoor photography. Her Instagram feed has a muted color tone that we love. It creates a minimalistic feel to her images and allows the viewer to sit with the image and take in emotions. We love these dual images that tell a story of the Gollinger Wasserfall. Pairing a wide landscape with a detail shot is a fun way to express a story through imagery.
