We are excited to announce The Swell Collective as the latest recipient of a Sony Create Action Grant. The organization was conceived in 2013 as a way to amplify positive sum practice in response. By investing care, peer support and capacity building resources into communities, The Swell Collective aims to accelerate our emergence into a positive-sum future. “We inspire, equip and amplify change agents. We dismantle oppression from the ground up and from the inside out. Healing and joy are our calling.” As winners of the grant, the organization will receive $50,000 in cash to continue and expand their work, a custom short film telling their story, $50,000 in Sony Electronics products to support their action plan, and collaboration and partnership with Sony.

The Swell Collective inspires change-agents with real world examples of positive sum practice by curating, producing and broadcasting stories of what is going right at the intersection of differences. The organization equips and coaches them with the knowledge and growth opportunities to become mindfully accountable practitioners themselves by conducting trainings both online and in person that teach the skills of positive sum practice, resiliency and collaborative leadership. The nonprofit aims to amplify their work by facilitating robust communities of care and peer mentorship, and by creating intentionally diverse social networks and mindfully fostering them.
Sony looks forward to working with The Swell Collective to support their mission to inspire, equip and amplify change-agents representing historically marginalized communities using a positive-sum approach.
