I’m Quay Hu (@aroundq), a professional commercial, lifestyle, landscape and astroscape photographer and videographer, and a member of the Sony Alpha Imaging Collective based in Florida. I love to travel and capture what I see on the go, but after a car accident that has caused me some lower back issues, it's a priority for me to travel light and small. I take only what I need and try not to over pack. See the Sony Alpha gear I fit in my minimalist kit for photo and video below.

Cameras
Sony α7R III: This camera is everything I ever wanted in a camera. It can cover all types of photography and videography. It’s a high resolution beast with incredible dynamic range. The dynamic range is especially great for shadow and highlight recovery in post, something I rely on often. And the 10fps is still fast enough to capture wildlife and sports. It's truly made for anything.
Sony RX0 II: The RX0II is lightweight and small enough to keep in my pocket for quick easy access and allows me to get into those hard to reach places. The flip screen is such a great added feature that allows me to vlog and travel without bringing on attention to myself in public areas.
Lenses
These three are my go-to lenses because they are so versatile. They cover all focal points that I need for landscape, astro, video and travel.
Sony 20mm f/1.8 G: This lens is one of my new favorites for low light. It’s super wide and sharp. The fast aperture of f/1.8 makes it my go-to choice for video because it captures footage so well in low light conditions. It’s also incredibly light and easy to bring with me.
Sony 16-35mm f/2.8 GM: This is a very versatile lens and I like to use it for capturing wide angles and astro. It’s an insanely sharp Sony lens that’s perfect to take out with me at night.
Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 GM: When you need the extended range, this lens is my go-to. The 200mm compression adds a unique look to my images, plus I can get the look of an extra 100mm by shooting in APS-C mode.
Accessories
Sony TOUGH SD Cards: These cards are incredibly tough and give me peace of mind that my data is safe. They’re waterproof so I don’t have to worry about dropping it in extreme conditions during traveling.
Zeiss Cleaning Kit: This cleaning kit comes with a brush, blower and lens cloth so I can always keep my gear clean on the go.
Sony WF-1000XM3: Music is great for creating the mood when editing. These are also great for noise-cancelling situations on noisy airplanes.
Wandrd Duo Bag: I love this bag and its easy-access four-zipper system.
Sony 2TB SSD: Made for the Atomos Ninja and can be used as an SSD for storage. You can buy an external cable and it connects directly to my computer.
