Brooke Shaden – Self Portraits
"I use the Sony Alpha 7R V because it allows for three things that are important to my process:
1. It has a flip screen which can be really important for seeing where you are in the frame and checking your pose. If you don’t have a flip screen, you can try tethering to a laptop to see what you’re doing in the frame, or to your phone. I prefer the flip screen, though, because I shoot by myself and often out on location, so I try to take as few items with me as possible.
2. It has a high dynamic range, which is important for me because I often utilize dark spaces for my self-portraits and need to trust that I can recover underexposed images with clean quality.
3. Auto focusing is excellent in the Sony Alpha 7R V, so when I click the self-portrait, I can trust it’s going to search for my eyes and nail the focus every time."

Sapna Reddy – Astroscapes
“This camera is an obvious choice for my work for many reasons. Its lightweight design and excellent weather sealing is crucial for shooting in extreme weather conditions. It has auto focus bracketing and focus breathing compensation that makes it easy to shoot scenes with a large depth of field. The 4-axis flip screen makes it possible to shoot with varying perspectives. It also has a long lasting battery life which is extremely useful on backpacking expeditions in the outdoors. Add in the versatile high dynamic range capability and AI-assisted auto focusing and I’m able to create incredibly high-resolution images for large-sized prints.”
“Capturing a dancing aurora in Lapland was extremely rewarding especially when being able to incorporate a human element to showcase the grandiose scale. The image below is testimony to the high resolution, low light sensitivity and the versatile dynamic range of the Sony Alpha 7R V.”

Nino Rakichevich – Fashion & Portraits
“I love having a lot of megapixels, and at 61 megapixels the Sony Alpha 7R V comes in on top. It allows me to crop my images without sacrificing quality. Plus, I also do big blowups of the images and having those extra megapixels makes it easy to create things like posters or fine pieces of art.”

Matt Kloskowski – Birds & Wildlife
“The Sony Alpha 7R V is a master at producing crisp, detailed photos with plenty of pixels to crop in if I ever need. If I knew I was in a situation where I would need to crop in more, this is what I usually reach for. Plus, it has amazing autofocus as well, so it’s great for wildlife and gives me that extra ability to crop in if I can’t get close to something.”

Ming Cheng – Street & Travel
I recently upgraded to the Sony Alpha 7R V and it has become my go-to camera. It’s a versatile workhorse that exceeds all my creative demands. It’s a game-changer in every sense, allowing me to elevate my craft to new heights. My journey began with the Sony Alpha 7 III, a remarkable camera that served me well. But as my passion for architectural photography evolved, so did my needs. I realized I required those extra pixels to crop into images without sacrificing quality and to fully exploit the extraordinary dynamic range necessary to capture every nuance of light and detail.

Pascal Maranus – Animal & Human Portraits
"My main (and simply only) camera is the Sony Alpha 7R V. It was announced roughly one and a half months after I had switched to Sony in September of 2022, so almost from the get-go, I felt like that would have been the perfect camera for me. The improved auto-focus as well as the higher resolution just seemed like a perfect match for me."
"I always love doing close ups — preferably highly detailed — so for that, a high resolution camera works great. And with animals, you can’t always get as close as you’d like, so having some extra room to crop, if necessary, is ideal as well."

Michael Simmons – Landscapes & Astroscapes
"I’ve had this camera for about a year and a half. I love the focus bracketing the most. It helps me capture a shot that can be blended to show everything in focus, just as our eyes see it. The Sony Alpha 7R V captures this automatically for me and is a huge time-saver. I also use the built in bulb timer a lot with my sky tracked shots. I just set the exposure time and let her rip, no need for an external intervalometer or phone timer. And if I'm being honest, the 4-axis back monitor is also the bomb – no more bending over or kneeling all evening long!"

Jonny Gios – High Res Landscapes
I love having my Sony Alpha 7R V in my bag. I know that I can rely on this combined with my Sony 14mm f/1.8 G Master to get me some nice, wide landscape shots. I know using the Sony Alpha 7R V that afterwards in Lightroom I can still edit and crop the image without losing any resolution with its 61-megapixel sensor. It’s the perfect camera combination to crop in without the need for carrying a huge lens that can add weight to a bag when climbing the fells.

Alex Briere – Wildlife & Landscapes
“The Sony Alpha 7R V is essential for my wildlife and landscape photography for several key reasons, making it a crucial part of my camera bag.”
“When I’m out in the field capturing wildlife, the Sony Alpha 7R V’s advanced autofocus system is a game-changer. The real-time Eye AF for animals ensures sharp focus on my subject’s eyes, even when they’re moving quickly. This is crucial for capturing intimate, expressive wildlife shots where precise focus makes all the difference. With its ability to track subjects accurately, I can stay focused on composing the shot rather than worrying about whether the focus will hold.”
