VIP Preview of The Water's Edge and Soul of the Sea

Sony Artisan Cristina Mittermeier is a photographer on a mission to save the planet. Her images are more than an outlet for artistic expression; they are a passport that allows her viewers to immerse themselves in the splendor and majesty of nature. This week, the prestigious Paul Nicklen Gallery in New York opens an exhibit of her work that will take audiences on a journey to the Water’s Edge.

The Paul Nicklen Gallery, created by the acclaimed National Geographic photographer of that name, focuses on the work of photographers that use their images to build a better planet. It aims to allow audiences to explore the extraordinary power of photography as a universal language: unwritten and unspoken, yet fully capable of reaching all cultures with a hopeful message for all life on Earth.

And what a wonderful time to be an artist! With Earth’s natural resources carelessly depleted or misused, we must find ways to remain optimistic and art is the perfect vehicle to engage the world. Over the course of her career Cristina has witnessed photography’s ability to shape perceptions, to help societies pause and reflect, and in some cases to inspire change. Being a photographer has allowed her to share with others that all things in nature are part of one vast ecosystem. What one comes to understand from her work is that unlike people, the Earth’s waterways, wildlife, and forests have not removed themselves from the fabric of the whole by claiming a separate existence. Without a doubt, her images will inspire in audiences a stronger connection with the nature that lies within and around us: infinitely worthy of our deepest respect and care.

From the Arctic to the Amazon and with over 30 images in exhibition, this exhibit the perfect complement to celebrate World’s Oceans Week and the United Nations Ocean Summit in New York. The Gallery opens Cristina’s new exhibit, The Water’s Edge this Saturday June 10th from 10 am. Cristina Mittermeier and Paul Nicklen will be in attendance to greet guests and sign books.
