Eyenamics Tests The 70-200 f/2.8 G Master For Wedding Video Work

The Eyenamics team of Amber and Garrette Baird are in the top echelon of wedding video makers. They are also constantly on the hunt for gear that will enable them to achieve their ultimate goal "Your Story Beautifully Told". Their Gear Glasses & Gadgets channel on YouTube chronicles their quest for equipment that make the grade and become part of their kit. In their latest review, the team looked at the new 70-200mm f/2.8 G Master. For the test, they set up a styled shoot "exactly how we'd do a real wedding".

"This lens is incredibly sharp...I was super impressed with the manual focus of the lens whenever I was filming with the α7S II. It feels very buttery smooth just like the other G Masters and I feel no lag at all like you sometimes get with fly by wire focusing. Because the lens is so sharp it actually makes my manual focusing a lot easier because I can see those exact fine details of an eye or a nose that way I can nail my focus every time." -Amber Baird, Gear, Glasses & Gadgets

In addition to using the α7S II, they also shoot with the lens on the α6300 to see how it will work with a phase-detect AF system. Also, the video review is more than just a test of the lens. Because they conducted the lens test during a staged shoot, Amber explains some of how the team approach a wedding shoot as they are doing it. See the full review:
