Many people may think of Yosemite as a spring and summer destination, but for adventure photographer and Sony Artisan Chris Burkard, the real beauty of the place doesn’t come alive until winter. With hopes to arrive right after a winter storm, he recently traveled to Yosemite with his Sony Xperia PRO-I to fully experience the season in the National Park, while also capturing it with the device.
“I have the device that allows me to really be in the moment.” – Chris Burkard on using the Xperia PRO-I to photograph winter in Yosemite
“For me, trying to capture an image of Yosemite when the storm is clearing, that’s always been the iconic moment,” Burkard explains. “It’s the photo that Ansel Adams chased after for years and finally captured. And if I’m being truthful, the very best way to do that as a photographer is sometimes to put the camera down. It’s to be there, to be in the moment, to experience it. And this is why for the last couple of years I’ve made it a personal practice to do multiple trips a year where I just have the camera that I can put in my pocket.”
