A Streamlined Wedding Photography Workflow
Before adopting these lenses, Vandenbroeck's wedding photography setup required a large trolley filled with multiple lenses, including a 14mm, 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, 90mm, 135mm and 70-200mm. This extensive collection, combined with lighting equipment, was cumbersome and time-consuming to manage. "Now I go with the smallest Think Tank trolley...with only two bodies with the Sony 28-70mm f/2 G Master and the Sony 50-150mm f/2 G Master and some lighting equipment," he explains.
The switch to these two lenses has allowed Vandenbroeck to carry less gear, significantly reducing the logistical challenges of a wedding shoot. This newfound freedom enables him to focus on capturing moments rather than worrying about equipment management.

Versatility Meets Prime Quality
Both lenses deliver the sharpness and image separation typical of prime lenses while providing the flexibility of zooms. "I have used f/2.8 zooms and was not always satisfied with my background," Vandenbroeck shares. "When the Sony 28-70mm f/2 G Master came out, I bought it immediately. This lens changed my mind about zoom lenses. The separation was prime quality."

The Sony 50-150mm f/2 G Master lens only adds to this versatility, offering a unique look at 150mm that Vandenbroeck describes as so good it’s "not normal." He says, "You have the sharpness and separation of a prime with a unique look at 150mm." This capability allows him to deliver a variety of perspectives to his clients without needing to change lenses constantly.

A New Perspective On Zoom Lenses
With these lenses, Vandenbroeck can respond to any situation on a wedding day with agility and creativity. "For any situation, I can react immediately without changing lenses and still keep that prime look in my photos," he says. This adaptability is crucial in wedding photography, where capturing spontaneous, fleeting moments is key.
He says the Sony 50-150mm f/2 G Master lens really shines for him during receptions. "With 50mm, you can go wide enough to take group photos, and with 150mm, you can perfectly capture moments without distraction from the background."

The Sony 28-70mm f/2 G Master lens has also reshaped his view of zoom lenses. "This is just a dream lens for people who want a prime look and still want the versatility of a zoom," he says. The lens’ sharpness and autofocus performance are exceptional, even in challenging lighting conditions. "Even in dark situations, I can't notice any difference with my primes."

The combination of these two lenses provides a comprehensive toolkit for any wedding scenario. The overlap between the 50-70mm ranges ensures seamless transitions and reduces the need for frequent lens changes. "At non-critical moments at a wedding party, I see myself walking around more and more with one body," he says.
For Alex Vandenbroeck, the Sony 28-70mm f/2 G Master and Sony 50-150mm f/2 G Master lenses have transformed his wedding photography setup. By offering the quality of prime lenses with the convenience of zooms, these lenses have not only simplified his gear but also expanded his creative possibilities.
