Photography has always been the best way to bring to life and interpret the most complex and exciting topics and themes, and here at Alpha Universe we have the great privilege of having some of the world’s most impressive photography works cross our paths every single day. We share a lot of it, but we know there’s so much more to share. We also know there are so many more people who do amazing work that we don’t know about, whom we would love to put a spotlight on and help share their gifts with the world.

In January, we took the 2020 Alpha Female Creators-in-Residence and Mentors for a summit to Riviera Maya, Mexico, where one of the activities we engaged in was a photo challenge, the theme of which was the classical elements: water, earth, wind, and fire.

We had so much fun doing this activity on the sprawling property of Generations Riviera Maya by Karisma, and the discussion surrounding the interpretation of these themes was so deep, that we decided to share the photo challenge with our entire Alpha community. So today, we’re announcing a new photo challenge with each of these four classical elements as a theme over the next four months.

We begin with March and the theme is...

WATER

We encourage everyone, from beginners to pros, to participate in the challenge. Between now and the end of March, submit your interpretation of the element of water to Instagram, tag @SonyAlpha, and use #bethewater and #bealpha on your post.

Every week, the best photos will be featured on AlphaUniverse.com and on @SonyAlpha social channels, offering an opportunity for all to have their photos seen by millions of people. Social sharing is a great equalizer, so let’s use it to shine a light on all the great art our community creates constantly.
