See How These Creatives Make Timelapse Eye-Candy

Timelapses are great storytelling tools. It can show the passage of time, an epic journey and in general serves as some great eye candy. This week we're featuring a group of creatives who are using Sony Alpha to create beautiful timelapse footage for Instagram. From the large dynamic range to high resolution to great low light abilities and overall image quality – Sony cameras are ideal for timelapse creation. Drew Geraci - @drewgiggity

Sony Artisan Drew Geraci is a classically trained timelapser. He has traveled the world creating dynamic timelapses and using them to tell stories. You can check out his skills in the video below of clouds zooming by. Geraci shot this on the Sony Alpha 1 with the Sony 24-105mm f/4 G. Gina Danza – @wildgina

Gina Danza is a nature photographer, visual storyteller and member of the Alpha Collective. She takes an approach to photography that includes connecting with nature and getting in touch with her emotional side, something that is reflected through her imagery and makes it stand out. From color tones to soft details, Danza always gives the viewer a sense of emotion. That can be seen in this timelapse below, the golden light and soft clouds give it a dreamy vibe. 

Nate Luebbe – @nateinthewild

Alpha Collective member Nate Luebbe is a photographer, cinematographer, and self-proclaimed nature nerd. Spending loads of time in the backcountry it is a blast to follow Luebbe on Instagram and see what imagery he comes back with. We love this timelapse he created in Utah at Capitol Reef National Park. According to the caption, this is comprised of 8 hours of shooting and well over 1,000 images. We think it was well worth it - the detail he captured is stunning! 

Andrew Eggers – @andreweggers

Andrew Eggers is a California-based photographer and Alpha Collective member specializing in night shooting and astrophotography. As you scroll through his Instagram account, you’ll see many images taken on the edges of night. From cityscapes to out in the backcountry, Eggers can tell a story through a single frame… or through a timelapse as you can see below. Seeing the clouds move through the sky is incredible. Mike Eloff - @lifeofmikeza

Mike Eloff is a content creator with a focus on adventure and timelapses. Not only is his Instagram filled with stunning images, it’s also filled with tips and tricks. Eloff often gives advice on settings, gear used, and apps that can help in his captions. You can check out the caption in the timelapse below to get the details on how he created it. We love that he’s so open with his knowledge and willing to share it with the Sony community. This timelapse was shot on the Sony Alpha 7R IV with the Sony 16-35mm f/2.8 G Master

Kyle Obermann – @kyleobermann

Kyle Obermann is a photographer and filmmaker who is known for his work in conservation, storytelling and adventure. Obermann shares stories of conservation efforts in China, often bringing grassroots conservation to a larger audience and showcases on the ground heroes protecting species and places. We also love following along on his adventures trail running and climbing mountains. The timelapse below is from one of his adventures in Olympic National Park. 

Alex Wiles – @awilesmedia

Alex Wiles is a conservation photographer and filmmaker. His work and passion in conservation initiatives takes him around the world where he documents the challenges faced by wildlife and the work of those who wish to protect it. Using his Sony gear Wiles films for many large productions, often filming small critters in his backyard. The video below was shot in his yard and shows a monarch butterfly caterpillar turning into a chrysalis. To see an incredible timelapse, be sure to watch all the way through. We love how this technique is being used to showcase the beauty of nature! 

Ludovic Frémondière – @ludovicfremondiere

Ludovic Frémondière is a Sony photographer based in the Alps of eastern France. He specializes in outdoor/adventure, commercial, and editorial photography. His Instagram feed feels truly cinematic with the landscape and outdoor images and stunning video footage. We love the timelapse below - the framing is beautiful and the way the clouds roll through, flooded with golden light is truly magical.
