On This Instagram Follow Friday, The Mountains Are Calling

“The mountains are calling, and I must go…”, part of the famous John Muir quote that outdoor adventurers cling to because of the way it resonates with their own feelings. And we don’t blame them, there’s something about mountains that make us feel alive and provides us with perspective. That’s why this week we’re featuring a group of Sony shooters who have posted inspiring mountain photos. Check out their work and give them a follow. Tag your own Sony photos on Instagram with #BeAlpha for the chance to be featured on AlphaUniverse.com, and give @sonyalpha a follow for your daily dose of creative inspiration.

Charly Savely – @charlysavely

Charly is a member of the Sony Alpha Imaging Collective. She specializes in adventure / travel, wildlife, & commercial photography. As a professional photographer, she’s able to combine her thirst for adventure with her love for photography to capture unique, relatable, & personal experiences. Her account is filled with enchanting shots of nature and wildlife – check out this surreal shot she took in New Zealand below.

Scott Kranz – @scott_kranz

Scott is based in Seattle and another member of the Alpha Collective. Not only does he photograph mountains, he climbs them! Just last year he completed his 50 Peaks Project, summiting 50 peaks in one year within North Cascades National Park, including the 10 highest. He was one who had the chance to test out the new α6600 last month, and he used it to capture these photos along with the Sony 70-350mm f/4.5-6.3 G lens.

Chris Langton – @chrislangtonphotography

Chris is a photographer and adventurer from Melbourne. His account features clear and crisp views, sometimes via drone, of beautiful scenes in nature. His Sony mirrorless of choice? The α7R II. That’s the Sony mirrorless he used to capture this shot at Roys Peak View Point in New Zealand.

Bradley Nash Burgess – @bradleynashburgess

Bradley is a Sony shooter located by the Blue Ridge Mountains. He takes advantage of his location by getting out and exploring, all the while documenting the incredible landscapes. The depth and dynamic range shown in his posts really highlight the vastness of the range of mountains. He took this photo of the Great Smoky Mountains, part of the Blue Ridge Mountain range, with his Sony α7R.

Sam Oetiker – @samoetiker

Sam is a Sony shooter based in Munich, Germany. He loves to explore the mountains that are just a stone’s throw away. When it comes to his photography he says, "When shooting in the mountains it can be easy to lose the sense of how big your surroundings are. I like to try and place objects in my shots to help convey the sheer size of the landscape." He took the shot below of Tre Cime di Lavaredo in Italy with his Sony α7 III and Sony 24-105mm f/4.
