Tired Of The Cold? Warm Up With These Photographers Showing A Different Side Of Winter

For many of us around the country, February is a month of cold weather. The seemingly endless gray days stretch on without a whisper of warmth. We don’t know about you, but we have been dreaming of warmth in all its facets. Visions of hot soup, sunshine, warm days, tropical islands and more are dancing in our head. And in that spirit, we’ve gathered some photographs of warmth taken by Sony Shooters and shared on Instagram. Check them out and remember that warmer days are ahead! Vince Lim – @vincelimphoto

Vince Lim is ​​a Hawaii-based landscape, travel and lifestyle photographer and member of the Alpha Collective. He was born and raised on the islands and spends most of his time enjoying the beautiful scenery Hawaii has to offer. As you scroll through his Instagram account you’ll see the deep blues of the ocean, the lush greens of the mountains, and the vibrant varying colors of the islands’ sunrises and sunsets - and you can just feel the warmth in his images. His photographs have been featured in various publications, including National Geographic Traveler and Digital Photo Magazine and you can follow him to see more of his work.

Eric Rubens - @ericrubens

Eric Rubens is a Southern California-based photographer and videographer and member of the Sony Alpha Imaging Collective. He not only captures the colorful sunsets of SoCal, but also the many scenic views he comes across while traveling – something he loves to do. His beautiful photos that portray his thirst for adventure are a perfect fit for Instagram and have earned him over 450k followers. Hilaire Baumgartner - @baumassfoods

Hilaire Baumgartner is a Dallas/Fort Worth-based commercial and editorial photographer. She shoots food and beverage in a studio setting and on location. We fell in love with her bright colors and fun images. And in terms of warmth, her caption says it all: “This cold and icy weather means I’m craving soup!” Baumgartner shoots with the Sony Alpha 7 III. Caroline Jensen - @carolinej

Sony Artisan of Imagery Caroline Jensen is a botanical photographer living on the prairie of SW Minnesota. With a specialty in flower photography, she has become a real expert in creating macro images using her Sony 90mm f/2.8 Macro G. She’s also a Westcott Top Pro and creates gorgeous light in her work, just like in the shot below. Based on her caption, she too is antsy for spring! But her studio work is getting us through the cold. She made this shot with the Sony Alpha 7 IV and Sony 50mm f/1.2 G Master. Anthony Castro - @anthonys.adventure

Adventure photographer and Alpha Collective member Anthony Castro says he is called to any adventure life has in store for him, while capturing every epic moment of it. He’s based in Oahu, Hawaii and his Instagram feed is full of epic shots of island life and adventures he’s taken all over the world. We love the image below, shot on the Sony Alpha 7R II.

Morgan Heim - @MoHeim

Morgan Heim is a wildlife photographer and filmmaker and member of the International League of Conservation Photographers. Heim is often working on a number of conservation projects and making outstanding images that tell a story. She just returned from leading an expedition and workshop in Costa Rica, where she photographed the animals below.

Arthur Benjamin Kennedy - @abenjaminkennedy

Ben Kennedy a Chicago based Photographer with a focus on nature conservation, urban exploration, and documentary videography. Kennedy frequently travels and makes images of the wildlife he sees. He shoots on the Sony Alpha 1 along with the Sony 400mm f/2.8 G Master + 1.4X Teleconverter. The image below was taken in Kenya. Be sure to give him a follow for more wildlife images.

Stacy Howell - @stacyhowellimagery

Stacy Howell is a commercial photographer and food stylist who divides her time between NYC and Charleston, SC. With an eye for composition and light, she approaches each shoot with a rustic, authentic and storytelling style ranging from light and fresh, to dark and dramatic. Always showcasing food in its natural state, she loves to focus on the gorgeous details and colors that make you feel like you’re close to something delicious and beautiful. We love this image, made on the Sony Alpha 1 because it reminds us of summer days with a cool drink!

Chris Burkard - @chrisburkard

What’s warmer than lava? Sony Artisan Chris Burkhard made this image while on assignment for National Geographic. This seasoned pro found himself covering the second volcanic eruption in Iceland in the past two years, with quite a limited kit. Still, he was honored as one of National Geographic’s “Photos of the Year” in 2021. Read the whole story of these images HERE.

Hannah Mather - @hannahshoneycomb

One thing we associate with the warmth is blooming flowers and the bees buzzing from bloom to bloom. Alpha Female+ grant winner Hannah Mather is a pollinator photographer and a beekeeper. The grant supported her project known as “The Pollinator Project'' where she created a photo and video project that showed the unique life and behavior of several pollinator species. Mather shot stills, video and high-speed slow motion to give us a glimpse into the overlooked parts of nature that are all around us and help more people to slow down and to see that there is nature worth protecting right in our own backyards.
