We’re Taking This Instagram Follow Friday To The Streets

When it comes to street photography, you're dealing with an unpredictable environment that is constantly moving. In order to capture those moving moments at just the right time, street photographers have to always be at the ready. This week we're featuring a group of Sony shooters who have taken their Sony Alpha cameras and lenses to the streets to document the daily happenings in the city. Tag your own Sony photos on Instagram with #BeAlpha for the chance to be featured on AlphaUniverse.com, and give @sonyalpha a follow for your daily dose of creative inspiration.

Ashley Noel – @nyroamer

Ashley is another member of the Alpha Imaging Collective, and, as her Instagram handle suggests, she spends a lot of time roaming around NYC with her Sony α7 II and 85mm f/1.4 G Master lens. Mostly through black and white images, her account does a wonderful job of exploring the city that never sleeps. Keep an eye on Ashley’s account if you’re a fan of the classic aesthetic of the Big Apple in black and white, and learn more about her process for street photography in Pro Workflow: How This Street Photographer Keeps Her Gear & Workflow Simple.

Bob Krist – @bobkristphoto

Bob Krist is a National Geographic photographer and Sony Artisan of Imagery who is often on assignment, shooting for magazines like National Geographic. He has a wide range of photography posted on his Instagram from his travels, including some intriguing street shots. In addition to the imagery, his captions are very interesting and informative. He took the shot below in the streets of Coatepec in Mexico using his Sony RX10 IV. Give him a follow for more.

Jeremy Cohen – @jermcohen

Jeremy is another member of the Alpha Imaging Collective based in New York City. His account has a fun and colorful variety of street shots, portraits and more. Check out these photos he captured on the sidewalk in NYC with the Sony α7R III and Sony 55mm f/1.8. He says you should, “Always bring your camera with you because you never know what you’re going to see,” something any street photographer can agree with.

David Olivas – @davidolivas

David is a Sony shooter based in Madrid, Spain. He travels to a variety of cities to shoot street photography, and his images have a unique moody and warm tone to them. It’s fun to see the different characters he comes across in the streets. He snagged this adorable moment in Madrid using his Sony α7 III and 85mm f/1.4 G Master lens.

Dan Morris – @danmorrisstreet

Dan Morris is a Sony shooter based in the UK. He has an Instagram account dedicated to his street photography but he also specializes in wedding photography, shown in his other account @danmorrisphotography. Give them a follow to see more of his great work. He spontaneously captured this moment in the streets of London with his Sony α7 III. The way the shape of the smoke matches the vine on the wall and covers the man’s face – timing is everything!
