Photographer Oscar Lindsey shoots a wide variety of content that’s known for its distinctive style. He’s been shooting on the Sony Alpha 7 III for over three years and it's still his go-to main camera. “It’s not just a camera that has proven to deliver time and time again, but it is also something that is visually appealing and functions flawlessly. The low-light capabilities are initially what attracted me to this camera body, being a night shooter I felt this was quite essential and I always look forward to putting this body to the test. I also love the hybrid nature of this camera in terms of being an excellent piece of equipment for videography. Being able to shoot in 4K, combined with the rapid autofocus is something that has become essential for building up my YouTube Channel over the years – I can always rely on this camera.” Read more in What’s In My Bag: A G Master Trinity Plus One For Creative Night Photography & More.

Wedding photographer Emily Schutz carries two Sony Alpha 7 III cameras with her on wedding day. “The Electronic Viewfinder is incredibly helpful during whatever rapidly changing lighting conditions I find myself in, like outdoor ceremonies. I’m never concerned about achieving proper exposure with the EVF. The compact, lightweight bodies are such an asset on these long wedding days. This line of work is tough on my back and shoulders, so the lighter gear can be, the better. Great battery life, ultra fast autofocus and dual card slots makes this camera a reliable companion.” Read more in What’s In My Bag: A Wedding Photographer’s Essentials For Capturing Couples In Love.

The Sony Alpha 7 III is the go-to camera for landscape and astrophotographer Dylan McMains. “The Alpha 7 III is the second Sony body I’ve had but it’s the one I’ve had the longest now,” he explains. “I absolutely love that no matter what kind of photo I am after, this camera can really do it all. Do you need a crisp landscape shot for a physical print? It can do it. Do you need impeccable low-light performance to bring out as much detail in the stars as possible? You’re covered. Are you shooting a scene with harsh varying light and need to retain as much info as possible? The dynamic range this camera offers will not let you down. I have shot every kind of scene imaginable with this camera and it has exceeded expectations every time.” Read more in What’s In My Bag: How This Complete Photo Kit Captures Powerful Skies & Breathtaking Landscapes.

While video director and photographer Mathis Decroux has upgraded to the Sony Alpha 1 as his main camera, you’ll still find the Sony Alpha 7 III in his kit. “My adventure on Sony began with the Alpha 7 III a couple of years ago and this camera is still part of my bag today. It is lightweight, compact and has a lot of functionalities that makes it a great entry-model for professional photographers. I grab it for every situation since this light and powerful body allows me to capture beautiful 24mp images in any situation with a great low light capacity.” Read more in What’s In My Bag: A Photo & Video Pro's Gear for Adventures & Expeditions.

Outdoor photographer Julia Jakovleva travels to lesser-known places with her Sony Alpha 7 III, conveying the beauty of these distant worlds through her imagery. “Four years ago I shifted to Sony from my prior Olympus mirrorless system. I was looking for a full frame camera with a great dynamic range, efficient focusing, and great low light performance and the Sony Alpha 7 III was a perfect fit for that. And if I wanted to include human or animal characters into my shots, the eye focus and now also animal eye focus have been an amazingly helpful feature.” Read more in What’s In My Bag: A Lightweight Travel Kit For Maximum Reach & Versatility.

Alina Behfar is a street photographer whose work has a cinematic style. Before Reels on Instagram became popular, she was already interested in taking short video clips as an extension to her street photography work, so the Sony Alpha 7 III, being a hybrid camera, was the perfect choice. In 2021 when the Sony Alpha 7 IV was released, she switched to it, but she always kept the Alpha 7 III as a back-up camera among other reasons – like excellent low light performance and customization. Wildlife conservation and nature photographer Kali Wexler has held onto the Sony Alpha 7 III as a backup camera for hybrid shooting since upgrading to the Sony Alpha 7 IV. “A backup camera is an absolute must for any professional, especially when working in remote locations. As the predecessor to the Alpha 7 IV, it does both photo and video well. It lacks a couple of the newer features offered on the Alpha 7 IV, but otherwise it does everything needed for a great hybrid camera. It’s a solid back-up camera that still holds up today and has produced many of my best shots over the years.” Read more in What’s In My Bag: 2 Cameras & 3 Lenses To Make This Wildlife & Nature Photographer A Happy Camper.

Professional content creator, filmmaker and photographer Justin Espejo uses the Sony Alpha 7 III for street photography, filmmaking and creating his videos for social media. “This is my main camera and even though it’s not the latest model, the features are still very relevant today,” he says. “The 24MP and oversampled 4K footage as well as being able to shoot 120FPS is perfect. Low light performance is amazing so I can keep shooting and creating throughout an entire day without worrying about raising my ISO too much. Having weather-sealing is amazing too and one of the biggest reasons I got this upgrade. I’ve taken some of the most memorable photos and videos I have with this camera. I use it for travel and street photography, filmmaking and the majority of my content creation too! It’s the one camera I’d get from my kit if I want to be sure to get ‘the shot.’” Read more in What’s In My Bag: A Versatile Kit For Vlogging, Content Creation & More.

Hiker, vlogger and nature photographer recently upgraded to the Sony Alpha 7 IV, but he still uses the Sony Alpha 7 III as a backup camera while on adventures. “I started my photography journey back in 2018, carrying a Sony RX100 IV point-and-shoot on the Appalachian Trail. I upgraded to full frame with the Sony Alpha 7 III and used it on the PCT as well as the CDT. I love that camera and still use it for a backup today.” Read more in What’s In My Bag: A Lightweight Full-Frame Kit For A Thru-Hiking Vlogger & Nature Photographer.
