Moody & Minimalistic – See How These Street Photographers Create Stories Out Of Simple Moments

Creating powerful street photography is challenging. How does one make an interesting photograph while documenting people in their everyday environment? It requires an eye for what’s happening around you, an ability to react intuitively to those happenings and an understanding of how to capture those simple moments at exactly the right time with a composition that compels. This week we’re featuring a group of street photographers who are using their Sony Alpha cameras and lenses to create moody magic out of the simple moments found in everyday life on city streets. Take a look at their work and give them a follow. If you want the chance for your account to be featured on AlphaUniverse.com, make sure you tag your Sony photography posts with #BeAlpha. And don’t forget to follow @sonyalpha for your daily dose of Sony photo inspiration.

This week we feature a group of street photographers who use their Sony Alpha gear to capture the beauty in those everyday moments.

Paola Franqui – @monaris_

Paola Franqui is a street photographer and member of the Alpha Collective who loves to tell stories through her photography. Her work focuses on capturing unique moments occurring in the daily lives of those in villages and cities across the globe and close to home. Franqui’s imagery provides a captivating glimpse at those ordinary moments in time by showing the complexity and diversity of humans interacting with the world. She took the shot below with the Sony Alpha 7R III and Sony 35mm f/2.8 lens.

Shauna Wade – @so.shauna

Shauna Wade is a travel, lifestyle and street photographer and another member of the Alpha Collective. She's the founder of the photography community @moodygrams, and her images come with her signature moody style that adds depth and layers to even the simplest of scenes she captures. She took this beautiful and simple bokeh-filled shot below with the Sony Alpha 7 II and Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 G Master lens.

Gilbert Majekodunmi – @gilbertmajek

Gilbert Majekodunmi is a street photographer based in London. He has a passion for sharing with the world all that his eyes see, and he does it using his Sony Alpha 7R III and Alpha 7C cameras. He creates moody street shots from different angles and perspectives. He finds interesting ways to incorporate light into his photographs, whether it be from the sun or storefront signs. He took this image in London with the Sony Alpha 7C and Sony 40mm f/2.5 G lens. Stay tuned to AlphaUniverse.com for more on the gear he uses for his street photography.

Chris – @goodeyevisuals

Chris is a Sony street photographer based in Sweden. He’s also the founder of photography community @meistershotz, and his images capture simple moments on the streets from angles that add life and depth to each. He utilizes the light as he’s out photographing in the city and often includes it in his photography through reflections, sun stars and bokeh. He took this moody shot with the Sony Alpha 7 II and Sony 50mm f/1.8 lens.

Oliver Wallner – @o.w.photography

Oliver Wallner is a street photographer based in Austria. His photography often features a close object from the streets in focus in the foreground, with the blurred background telling as much, if not more, of the photo’s story. He uses the Sony Alpha 7R III and Alpha 7C for his photography, which features dark and moody tones as his signature style. He took this shot below of a sunrise in Vienna with the Sony Alpha 7R III and Sony 20mm f/1.8 G lens.
