Try This In-Camera Trick To Get A Perfectly-Exposed Final Image

Synopsis

Travel, lifestyle and portrait photographer Quay Hu (@aroundq) likes to shoot underexposed, pushing the highlights and shadows in his compositions as much as possible. In this short video, the Alpha Collective member explains how he takes advantage of the dynamic range in his Sony Alpha mirrorless cameras to shoot this way to maintain all of the important details in the final image.

"Once I overexpose I can never bring back that detail. So that's why I like to shoot underexposed because in post, the dynamic range will come into play and you're going to be able to lift a lot of those shadows." – Quay Hu (@aroundq)
