This week we’ve had a steady stream of macro content on AlphaUniverse.com, and we’re keeping it up in our Instagram Follow Friday. We’re featuring a group of Sony shooters who have taken photos with the popular Sony 90mm f/2.8 Macro G lens (a lens LensRentals called "clearly better" after their testing). Take a look at their creations below and give them a follow. Then make sure you tag your own Sony shots on Instagram with #BeAlpha for the chance to be featured on AlphaUniverse.com, and give @sonyalpha a follow for your daily dose of creative inspiration.

Caroline Jensen – @carolinej
Caroline is a Sony Artisan and her Instagram account features painterly photos and macro shots. She uses her macro photography as a form of stress relief, and she’s hoping that by sharing her techniques with others, they will be able to do the same. You can learn more about how to get started in macro photography in her Quick Start Guide, and you can follow her entire workflow from start to finish here. She took the photo below with her Sony α7 III and Sony 90mm f/2.8 Macro G lens. Give her a follow and relax with some macro in your feed.
Olivia Beall & James Tran– @ohhhbee & @jtran_photos
Olivia Beall and James Tran are a photo and video team who capture food, portraits, interiors and events. They have a way of encapsulating an entire bar or restaurant’s aesthetic in one shot of a single menu item, and you can learn more about how they do it here. They took this cocktail photo below using the Sony α7 III and Sony 90mm f/2.8 Macro G lens.
Mahesh Thapa – @starvingphotographer
Mahesh Thapa is a Seattle-based photographer and member of the Sony Alpha Imaging Collective. He's known to capture brilliant landscapes, but he's been diving deeper into macro during social distancing. You can see the gear he’s been using for his macro here, and see how he explores the world within a water droplet (like the photo he took below with the Sony α7R IV and Sony 90mm f/2.8 Macro G lens) here.
Melissa Maahs – @melissamaahsphotography
Melissa is mainly a portrait photographer, but she also loves photographing landscape and nature. She’s been taking a closer look at things during social distancing with her 90mm f/1.8 Macro G lens, and on her account you’ll see beautiful flower and insect macro shots. You’ll also see something a little more creative that you may not have encountered on Instagram before. Using oil, water, and the screen from her iPad, she’s been creating these colorful bubble photos that look like they could be generated by a computer. Take a look at this one below she took with the 90mm Macro on her Sony α7 III.
