March is Women’s History Month and in our first in a series, we’re featuring female photographers who are leading the way in the industry.
Sapna Reddy – @sapnareddy
Sapna Reddy is a California-based landscape and nature photographer and teacher focused on creative expression and compelling images. Through her images she hopes to share with her viewers the inherent healing power of nature. She splits her time equally between medicine and photography. As a radiologist she analyzes images in an attempt to achieve a cure, and as a photographer she aspires to generate images that help heal the mind. Jean Fruth – @jeanfruthimages
Jean Fruth is a sports photographer and Sony Artisan Of Imagery. She documents all baseball from grassroots to the Major Leagues. On her Instagram she posts a wide variety of baseball shots that show the game in all of its beautiful forms. If you’re a fan of the national pastime, following her account is a must. Madison is a photographer based in Jackson, Wyoming. She not only photographs portraits and weddings, she also captures the great outdoors and wildlife. Many of her couples sessions take place in the wintry landscape, and she does a great job of bringing the environment into their story. Jane Kim – @_janekim
Jane Kim is a fashion, lifestyle and travel photographer, as well as a member of the Sony Alpha Imaging Collective. She works with various lifestyle brands for all of their photography needs – from editorial to advertising to social content and more. Lisa Janae – @janae.lisa & @terravisualsofficial
Lisa Janae is a Black, queer multimedia artist, activist and actor from Los Angeles, CA currently residing in Brooklyn, NY. One day she picked up a camera with a goal of recording her own taped auditions, but in the process she began taking photos of people and fell in love with it. She won an Alpha Female+ Grant for a docu-series project where she will document the experiences of an Afro-Queer performance artist, and you can catch more of her photography work on her new account @terravisualsofficial.
Brooke Shaden – @brookeshaden
Brooke Shaden is a fine art photographer and Sony Artisan Of Imagery. Her love for storytelling and deep fascination by darkness and how much of ourselves we can discover in it has led her to create hauntingly beautiful self-portraiture. Many of her works inspire self-reflection and explore the artist’s evolution. Follow her for more deep and thoughtful fine art self-portraiture in your feed. Robiee Ziegler – @robieezee & @makingwaves.prjct
Robiee Ziegler is an LA-based photographer specializing in commercial, lifestyle and travel. When the pandemic first hit she decided to start documenting people at their homes while social distancing – something that’s grown into the @makingwaves.prjct, a community-driven project that’s connecting people all over Los Angeles by sharing their unique stories. Autumn Schrock is a photographer and designer specializing in outdoor lifestyle, travel, and landscape photography. The Alpha Collective member strives to showcase the immense beauty of our world and to encourage others to get out and explore. Her beautiful landscapes and astroscapes are calming and colorful, and will without a doubt brighten up your feed. That’s not all...she’s also a yoga instructor and recently led the Alpha community through a midday yoga break during #BeAlpha Live Online. Sandy Windham is a portrait, brands, fashion and travel photographer. As you scroll through her Instagram account you’ll find one stunning portrait after another. Her favorite quote from Burk Uzzle that you’ll see at the top her Instagram bio is also tattooed on her arm so her subjects can see it as she photographs. Jennifer Carr – @jennifercarrphotography
Jennifer Carr is a landscape, nature and travel photographer and mentor. Her love for the outdoors has strongly influenced her photography. She captures larger-than-life outdoor scenes in a way that translates their tranquility and makes them easy for the viewer to digest. Charlee Wild – @CharleeWild
Charlee Wild is a member of the Alpha Collective who specializes in adventure/travel, wildlife and fine art photography. She enjoys exploring the harsh environment of her home in Alaska, respectfully capturing its wildlife and bringing awareness to climate change and conservation issues. Erin Dietsche is a nature and travel photographer in search of mountains, long hikes and moments that make her feel more alive. She travels all over with her camera in tow, exploring some of the world’s most beautiful places. Tomayia Colvin, EdD is a teacher, senior portrait photographer, author, photography educator and Sony Artisan Of Imagery based in Houston, TX. She is the definition of a go-getter and works to inspire and educate others through Tomayia Colvin Education, an online learning platform for photographers of color. She not only posts beautiful images on her Instagram, like this gorgeous portrait she took with the Sony α7R IV and Sony 85mm f/1.4 G Master, but she also shares helpful life and business advice. She’s a must-follow in the photography industry.
Martha Hidalgo – @hidalgowildlife.photography
Martha Hidalgo is a wildlife photographer based in the Midwest. A lover of nature and animals, photography has given her the opportunity to feel close to what inspires her to persevere. She was the winner of an Alpha Female+ Grant and used it to capture crisp and stunning images of the wildlife in her area. While most people wouldn’t think of the Midwest for wildlife photography, she proved that there is much diverse beauty to be found if you just go outside.
Cristina Mittermeier – @mitty
Cristina Mittermeier is a conservation photographer and co-founder of @SeaLegacy, an organization dedicated to promoting the protection of the world’s oceans through storytelling. The Sony Artisan Of Imagery's work has been published in hundreds of publications, including National Geographic Magazine, McLean’s and TIME. Follow her account as she brings awareness to important conservation issues through her work.
Emma – @emmaexpedition
Emma is an Arizona native and photographer of the Southwest and beyond. She chases the light through the desert to capture the beautiful colors and textures present in the surrounding landscape. Tenley Clark is a photographer, mother, and lover of all things creative and colorful. She’s spent the last decade of her career as a photographer photographing kids portraits, kids fashion and commercial photography for kids brands. She won an Alpha Female+ Grant for her project “Under The Weather,” where she created a series of cinemagraphs exploring the challenges of motherhood. Fran Forman – @franforman
Fran Forman is a fine art photographer who combines her illustrative and photographic skills to create intriguing photo-paintings. Her images can be interpreted in a number of ways, something she finds great interest in given her background in psychology. She collects source materials for her work as she travels with her camera and combines them to create something new and intriguing. Kristen Sarah is another member of the Alpha Collective and a total expert when it comes to travel. She has a genuine passion for travel and meeting new people, which is why she started Hopscotch The Globe as a way to share her experiences with others.
Dolphia Nandi – @dolphia.n.arnstein
Dolphia Nandi is a designer and camera artist. She beautifully stylizes dishes and takes photos of them for stock photography. She won an Alpha Female+ Grant for an ebook featuring recipes and photos of her mother’s traditional Indian sweets. Crissi Beth Cooper – @crissibeth
Crissi Beth Cooper is a NYC-based photographer and member of the Alpha Collective. She goes all over the city with her camera to capture architecture, heights, art and the city’s secret places.
